Development Update
We had our monthly Parents as Teachers meeting this past Thursday and she did a screening on Jack to see where he is at developmentally. She said he is right on track and gave us a few "what's coming next" things to work on. So we are focusing on getting him to wave hi/bye, playing patty cake/clapping, getting him to practice his pincher grasp, pulling up, and start to get him to relate his sounds to certain things (like when he says dada he knows that Chris or when he says baba that he means his bottle; things like that).
He is getting stronger and stronger in the legs arena - he will stand for a few seconds on his own, but I'm right there to catch him when he falls! But thank goodness he is finally standing and putting weight on his legs - that was my biggest worry!

M.I.A
So yeah, I've been M.I.A again lately. Work has become all encompassing for me - December and January are my busiest, most stressful months of the year! Ugh! And now that Chris got his new job he is busier then ever too! This leaves little time for blogging!
Here is a quick update on the Family!
Darci - I am progressively become less tired and starting to finally get my energy back since I had my Thyroid removed in mid-October. My hormone dose has been increased from 25 mcg to 125 mcg; you can imagine how tired I've been! I don't get my levels tested again for 8 weeks, but I'm assuming my labs last week must have been close b/c we had been testing every 4 weeks. I can tell I'm not as tired, lets hope this last jump up will really help!
Chris - As I mentioned in an earlier post he got a promotion at work and has been working all day and most evenings at home and traveling on top of that. We both started a diet this week and also a workout program. We are both trying to get back in shape for the summer!
Jack - He is growing like a weed! I can't wait to take him to the doctor and see how big he has gotten, but we unfortunately don't go back until the end of February - pending Jack doesn't catch a cold or anything between then and now! Fingers crossed! He is finally standing on his own without me holding him at all - which is awesome, especially since the doctor totally freaked me out at his 6 month appointment b/c he wasn't really putting weight on his legs, but since then we work on it every night and he has improved tremendously. He is starting to try to figure out crawling and can wiggle his way all over the floor on his belly. When he tries to get his knees under him he always ends up pushing backwards! But at least he is catching on! He is still sleeping like a champ for the most part! No teeth yet and I don't see any coming anytime soon, but I can tell he has teething pain every once in awhile. Jack also loves daycare! He loves the kids and he is really fond of Tonya - which I might be a tad bit jealous of - he does spend way more time awake each week with her then me, but I know I'm still Momma and he knows that!
That's a quick update. I know tons more has been going on, but at this point my brain is drained!
Until next time...xoxo

Congratulations...
To my wonderful husband! Chris got a promotion at work - he is now a Regional HR Manager! Yea! He got a pay raise, more responsibility, and a company vehicle (a super cute Charger)! This will be a great opportunity and I'm so proud of him! This does mean more travel for him, but since he is in the Central Region and most of the locations right now are in Kansas and Oklahoma most of the time it can be day trips so he can be home at night, which is a major plus!
Congrats Again Chris. Jack and I are so proud of you! We love you! xoxo

Note to Jack
Dear Jack,
I'm so sorry Mommy has been working late almost every night lately and sometimes bringing my work home with me. This will all be over at the end of the month (hopefully), then its back to nothing but me, you, Daddy, George and Charlie! I miss you baby boy!
xoxo
I love you!

New Years Survey - A few days late...
Here is my second annual New Years Survey. I got this from my friend Chelse last year and I'm so glad she reminded me again to complete it this year!
1. What did you do in 2009 that you'd never done before? "Gave birth and discovered how hard life is with a newborn, but now I'm loving every second of it!"
2. Did you keep your new year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year? "I'm not really - it was to walk at least every other day (I was pregnant). I did good I'd say 50% of the year. This year my resolution is to lose at least 20 pounds before Jack's first bday (I have about 25 to get to my pre-pregnancy weight)."
3. Did anyone close to you give birth? "Oh yes - Kayla in April, Sara in May, Me in May, Steph in July, Laura in August, Lindsay-Michelle-Amber all in November. I'm sorry if I'm forgetting anyone, but there has been a ton this year!"
4. Did anyone close to you die? "No."
5. What countries did you visit? "Unfortunately none."
6. What would you like to have in 2010 that you lacked in 2009? "A more balanced and calm life"
7. What dates froom 2009 will remain etched upon your memory, and why? "May 28th - the day Jack was born!"
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year? "I'd say successfully getting through labor and delivery and maternity leave! I was a basketcase in the beginning!"
9. What was your biggest failure? "Being so stressed and not truly enjoying Jack when he was a newborn."
10. Did you suffer illness or injury? "Not really. I have my Thyroid removed in October, but the surgery was routine and recovery was quick!"
11. What was the best thing you bought? "IDK - most of my money goes to buying things for Jack."
12. Whose behavior merited celebration? "Not sure on this one."
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed? "Again, not sure."
14. Where did most of your money go? "Bills for Jack and buying things for Jack or bills in general."
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about? "Having my little boy!"
16. What song will always remind you of 2009? "Probably Michael Jackson songs - b/c that's all I heard all maternity leave after he died."
17. Compared to this time last year are you: a) happier or sadder? b) thinner or fatter? c) richer or poorer? "I'd say I'm about the same all around."
18. What do you wish you'd done more of? "Spent more quality time with Chris before Jack was born. We hardly have anytime for each other now."
19. What do you wish you'd done less of? "Eat while I was pregnant."
20. How did you spend Christmas? "Christmas Eve in Columbus, snowed in so we couldn't go to Chanute Christmas day so we went to Columbus again and then spent Saturday and Sunday in Chanute."
21. Did you fall in love in 2009? "I fell in love with my little man."
22. What was your favorite TV program? "Criminal Minds! I still love it!"
23. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year? "Don't think so."
24. What was the best book you read? "I honestly don't think I read a book in 2009. I'm now reading a book about Finance and Accounting."
25. What was your greatest musical discovery? "....."
26. What did you want and get? "A healthy baby boy! Materialistically - A GPS, a new phone, IDK what else."
27. What did you want and not get? "A new car. A mother's ring. Stupid things."
28. What was your favorite film of this year? "Oh we have watched so many movies since Jack arrived I couldn't think of just one. Movie watching has become a weekend standard in our household."
29. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you? "We had dinner with a few friends and I turned 26."
30. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying? "Can't really think of anything - I'm pretty satisfied with life overall."
31. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2009? "Maternity clothes and then dresses to hide my fat legs."
32. What kept you sane? "Bitching to my friends."
33. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most? "All the prego celebs!"
34. What political issue stirred you the most? "I don't have time for politics really and I don't know much, but probably this whole healthcare deal."
35. Who did you miss the most? "Not sure."
36. Who was the best new person you met? "I haven't really met anyone new this year. I guess I could say Jack's doctor b/c in the beginning she really helped me stay sane and never got annoyed that I called and came in multiple times a week. But now I don't really like the clinic she is at so I'm not so impressed."
37. Tell a valuable life lesson you learned in 2009. "Having a baby is H.A.R.D. It's hard on you and your body, it's hard on your marriage and relationship, its hard not knowing what to do or when to do it, its hard leaving them at daycare - it's just H.A.R.D. and the sooner you accept that the sooner you will be able to live a more "normal" and "happy" life again! You have to accept that they will cry and that they won't always be a perfect baby and it will be stressful, but it is OH SO WORTH IT! Jack has already grown so much and is learning so much I almost miss when he was little and would let me hold him b/c now he wants nothing to do with that! He'd rather play and go to bed and talk himself to sleep. Tear...Sad...
38. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year. "I'm going to have to think about this one...I have no clue."

7 Months Old...Already!!
So my little boy turned 7 months old on Monday! Time is flying by! Here is a quick update on his development and new skills!
- Jack is sitting completely unassited and without any pillows or people for support/security! I can leave him on the floor and he is perfectly fine. He lifts both hands off the floor to play with toys, he turns from side to side and leans over to grab toys and then sits back up. He hasn't figured out how to sit from laying down though - I think it has to do with him not liking to roll?
- Jack is still sleeping from 7pm until anywhere between 5:30-7:30am. If he wakes early he gets a bottle and goes back to bed - sometimes until 9:00am! What a good boy!
- Jack has started eating baby food. We skipped over cereal for now and he has had Pears and Squash with no tummy troubles! I think every weekend we will be adding a new food and see how it goes!
- Jack still doesn't have any teeth, but has been teething hard lately so hopefully soon!
- Jack is a jabber box! Dadadadadadadadada is all I hear!
- Jack is also a major screamer! He screams when he is excited mostly and flaps his arms up and down to add to the excitement! Tonya says he screams at all the kids all day long at daycare! I'm sure she loves that! But its how he communicates so I'm fine with it!
- Jack is starting to show some seperation anxiety tendencies - mostly when Momma leaves, but he loves daycare so we never have the problem there! It's mainly when cranky, tired, or hungry!
- Just last night Jack started getting his knees under him while on his tummy and pushing backwards! He's been wiggling around on his belly spinning circles for a few weeks now though. Hopefully crawling is in the future in the next couple months! Although he still has no desire to stand, at least not for too long.

Bad Blogger
I know I've been a bad blogger! It's been about 3 weeks since my last post and so much has happened in those 3 weeks - Jack had his first Thanksgiving (actually 4 Thanksgivings!), he turned 6 months old and had his 6 month pictures taken!, Mom cut 8 inches off her hair!, Chris has been traveling non-stop for what seems like months, but was only about 2 weeks!, Mom had a day away shopping with the girls in Tulsa!, Our heater proceeded to break on a Sunday (of course a Sunday!), Chris passed his Professionals in Human Resource Test!, Mom is busier then ever at work with Budgeting!, Christmas shopping has been an in between and here and there thing this year!, No Christmas Tree in Sight at the house - poor Jack! That's about it!

6 Month Milestones!
I know I'm totally late on this, but things have been hectic to say the least in the Spear Household the past few weeks! I just wanted to make a quick post to mark some of Jack's milestones for his 6 month mark!
- Rolling from tummy to back like a champ - but still working on back to tummy!
- Sitting by himself fairly well, but we still need pillows for fall protection!
- Starting to stand and not buckle at the knees!
- Babbles like nobody's business! He is saying all kinds of things and it just seemed to happen overnight! Bababababa! Dadadada! An occasional Mama! Hi! Gagagaga!
- I'm starting to see signs of some "Stranger Anxiety!"
- Still NO teeth!
- Temper tantrums are in the making!
- Still NO baby food - formula only!
- Sleeping like a champ 98% of the time!
xoxo
Quick Update: I just wanted to add for my records that Jack weighed in at 17 pounds 8 ounces at his 6 month Well Baby Visit and was still only 25 inches long!
